Throughout life we are constantly chasing goals.
This is about me chasing my goal by losing weight.
Below is a picture of me taken approximately 5 years apart
I USED TO WEIGH 150KG (330lbs)
Not only was I unhealthy, I made the worst decisions around my health. I drank no water, lived on fast food and would avoid any exercise.
This resulted in sleep apnea, fatty liver and a range of other medical issues.
SO WHAT CHANGED?
I left the appointment shattered. How was I going to get to work living outside of public transport routes.
I signed up for the gym and instantly regretted it. There was no tutorial on how to use the equipment or what did what. It was just a cash grab and then leave me on my own.
I was lucky enough to transfer my membership to someone else who was looking to join (avoiding joining fees for them) .
THIS WAS THE TURNING POINT
My daily drive home was past a group doing fitness in the park. "That looks cool" I thought, so I went home to research what it was.
This is where I found my Holy Grail. The group was a bootcamp.
I signed up that night and started going twice a week. My first sessions were brutal. I threw up, I couldn't walk, all in all I struggled but i stuck with it. The following weeks got easier to handle until my fitness just exploded.
I was feeling so good that I needed something else to do on my days off.
I volunteered some time with the South Australian Country Fire Service.
At this point I was feeling healthier, I could breathe easily, wasn't tired all the time and I could keep my licence.
Over the course of the next 12-18 months I dropped kilo after kilo. I went from being a morbidly obese 150KG to 95KG.
I was enjoying my new found energy so much I started doing things I never thought I would. I started Running and hiking.
Skip forward 2 years
Life has a habit of getting in the way. I missed a session here and a session there and I slowly lost my groove. I kept telling myself it is just a dip in enthusiasm and energy and that I would get my groove back.
Well that didn't happen. I slowly stopped going, I spent more time on the couch and lost motivation all together.
This is me now
I have put some weight back on. Now back to 105-110KG (231lbs).
This is the restart of my goal
So far I have lost over 50KG and put back on 10KG.
During this downtime I have learned that just eating healthy is not the answer. We need exercise, without it there are less endorphin's being released and this has had a dramatic effect on my moods.
Starting this week I am back at Boot Camp. I'm back on the road to living healthy.
My plan is to bring my fitness back up and lose the weight I have put back on.
I would love to share this with you on an ongoing weekly basis. Giving other Steemians the exercises I'm doing and the progress I'm making .
If this post is successful with views and others want to hear it, then I will make it happen. Let me know in the comments what you would like to hear.
Until next time Ciao
