To practice zazen, one sits facing the wall on a cushion (zafu), legs crossed in lotus or half-lotus. The pelvis is tilted forward so that the knees rest on the ground. From this base, the vertebral column is upright, we push the sky with the top of the skull. The chin is back, the head is straight, the shoulders relax. The gaze is placed in front of you, at 45 degrees to the ground. The tip of the tongue is at the front of the palace. The left hand is placed on the right hand, palms up. The thumbs touch each other at the ends and are in line with one another. Both hands on the thighs are in contact with the abdomen. The conditions of total immobility are thus created. Body and mind being linked, focusing on a deep, slow, calm and powerful breath, the mind becomes clear like a cloudless sky.
