In my country the situation is not very well, there is a shortage of food and medicine which makes it very difficult to be able to lead a quiet life, it is quite difficult to buy food because they are "regulated" by the government, for example Each supermarket has a machine that registers your fingerprint and every time you buy things like rice, milk, spaghetti, beans, flour etc. the machine registers you in a data system and you are prohibited from being able to buy that type of food for 1 week
you can only buy this type of food every 7 days
For example if you bought 2 kilograms of rice on a Monday to pay for these foods at the supermarket register your data and your footprint and you can not buy again rice until next Monday, you are registered in the data system so you go back to the supermarket at Next day to buy more food you can not simply have to endure until next Monday to be able to buy more food, the government implemented more than 3 years ago this type of controls saying that because of scarcity must ensure that all people can get food then They must buy little so that all people can buy and not a person arrives and buy 25 kilograms of rice and then it is over and other people can not buy more food, however so many controls what has done is that food are increasingly More expensive and scarce and you have to wait several hours in rows to simply be able to buy food.
This is similar to one of the machines that record your fingerprints in the supermarkets of venezuela
The difficult situation has made Venezuelans have to look for food and medicines in other countries mainly Colombia that is where one can cross the border
Doing it illegally is a big risk since if the police catch you easily can get you arrested, it is illegal to pass food or medicine across the border but before the bad situation we lived we had to act like this because of the need
We were 5 people at 2am trying to cross the border, I my uncle the guide who knew the area and was helping us and 2 other cousins.
The most difficult thing was to walk among the grasses because we had no light because obviously the police could see us and meet us very easily.
At the beginning of the long walk through the bush and the herbs we arrive at a road where by crossing it you could practically reach the other country and the police once you cross that road can not catch you because you are in Colombian territory and only the police of that country can arrest tosomeone.
The guide who knew the way was the one who was most advanced and we were following him, I was sincerely afraid because the first time I have to live an experience like this.
When we reached the dirt road we could hear the police dogs in the distance and the guide told us that we had to run and that's how we started running all the way where we could barely see.
Luckily we were quite close to arriving but it was difficult to run because barely and we could see where we were walking I felt in a horror movie with dogs chasing us.
My cousin stumbled and fell for what my uncle stopped and had to help him I tried to help him but he shouted me to run with the guide and so I did.
My uncle and my cousin were left behind quite something that I was very scared but they managed to cross the road in time and skipped several fallen trees that are on the border where we finally arrived in Colombia.
Very risk that we run only to be able to get food since in our country the situation is really bad and just as we had to go through that risk many people must also go through the same thing or even worse things that I do not want to anyone since Need compels you to do things you never imagined to do.
We got food that day and had to wait until night to return to our country doing the same.
I felt a lot more scared that night since we had had a terrible scare the day before and my cousin was even more frightened than I was.
Luckily that night there was no problem and we crossed the border again very calm the guide knew another way where we had to walk much more but we managed to reach our country without any fright.
The food we got was not many but they managed to help us a lot, the situation in our family at that moment was really bad and we had to risk crossing the border I hope that this difficult crisis that we live in will soon end, since it is not fair that we have I do this kind of thing just to get food and I also consider it quite unfair that the government only allows you to buy food every 7 days in supermarkets that makes me and my family and many of my friends are going through quite complicated times because Have money you can not buy food and you are forced to do risky things just to get food.
