The statue of Kumica Barica, kumica represents women living in the villages surrounding Zagreb and is a symbol of a saleswoman who supplies food and sells it on the main Zagreb market, called Dolac. Kumica Barica is the name given to the statue by the citizens of Zagreb. At Dolac market, everything is homemade, and that is what Kumica stands for :) There are lots of fruits and vegetables, and lots of garlic, beans and fresh cheeses which are produced near Zagreb.
The bronze statue of Kumica Barica was conceived according to the idea of the Croatian journalist Branka Šeparović and Kumica was a gift of other marketplaces in Zagreb to the one that is the most popular and the most attractive of them.
One of a few customers today at Dolac due to extreme cold snowy weather.
Booths covered with snow, not a usual sight of farmhouse healthy foods. The picture also shows the Zagreb Cathedral, the largest Croatian sacral building.
Beneath the most famous Dolac Market, is the main square in Zagreb, named after the ban (governor) of Croatia Josip Jelačić.
I hope you will visit Zagreb, and especially my Kumica Barica !!! :-)
