Greetings Dear friends of Steemit, this time I will talk a little about the dam or reservoir of my city located in the center of Venezuela, Calabozo, Guarico state.
Fuente
The Generoso Campilongo reservoir, better known as the Calabozo dam, was inaugurated in the year 1957 during the government of General Marcos Pérez Jimenez as a solution to the drought that haunted the crops of the area, mainly rice, and made livestock difficult, so the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) of the time, made a project to develop the dam.
Fuente
Calabozo is near the Guárico River, so a job was done to cut the direction of the river, since before it could only be reached by boat to extract the water.
Fuente
The reservoir has a capacity of 1,840 hm³ and distributes water to the entire Guárico state. When it is dry it is difficult to get water for the farmers, since it is distributed mainly to the farmers and then it is supplied to the local populations. When the water of the dam falls, it is a problem since crops and the people who depend on it are often affected.
Fuente
The reservoir has approximately 15 Kilometers of stopper, and on rainy days the floodgates are opened to relieve it and the water does not overflow.

See you next time!
