Hello Steemians, Jhayson here and today I want to discuss this absurd saying that goes around everywhere. Does life really begin at forty? I’ve been hearing this since I was in high school but ever since I don’t understand why.

The saying itself is technically incorrect because scientifically, your life begins at the moment of conception inside the womb of your mother. That is what I know but the thing is, it is much deeper.
When someone says that “Life begins at 40”, they are most likely the people who work really hard during their early 20’s – late 30’s. I think some people really enjoy their life during their 40’s because of one reason, they have their savings now to enjoy. But the question here is that what happened on your twenty (20) years of life the moment when you become a young adult? Why is that your life must begin at forty? And not on your thirty’s or twenty’s?
For me, I think there is no specific age at where your life will begin.
LIFE ONLY BEGINS WHEN YOU PERMITTED IT.
For me, I strongly believe that you have full control over your life. It is up to you if you want to live in your life at forty or you want to live your life from now on. There are many things in the world that is worth living for other than making money. Don’t let money controls your life, you can begin your life when you permitted yourself to live it.
Do What Makes You Happy
You can start to live your life by doing what makes you happy. Make sense because what is life if you are not happy? I can’t imagine living all my life in misery and regrets of the things that I should have done. For those reading this who are currently undecided to what you want when you become an adult, I have this piece of advice for you. Choose what makes you happy! As simple as that because the next 20 years of your life depends on your decision. Whether you are happy that time or not.
Do not let the others tell what to do. You are a human not a robot. Don’t let them control your life, take control of your life.
Express Yourself
Seriously, you should express yourself whenever is possible because expressing your feelings is a sign that you are still a human. Emotions is what differentiate us from a machine. But sadly many people in the world are forced not to express themselves especially during early 20’s up to late 30’s because of job security. I pity those people because they have no choice but to act what their superiors want to. They can only express themselves after work but rather than positive expression they tend to give off negative expressions like anger, frustration, and grief.
I think that all of us should have something that will help us express ourselves. Just like the painter expresses their self through painting, the singer by their songs, and so on. The point is we all have different ways to express our self.
Responsibility
To balance out your life, you must not forget your responsibilities. Growing old also means growing responsibility. You can do what makes you happy and you can express yourself but never forget your responsibilities. You can’t say that you are living your life if you don’t have any responsibilities in your life.
Life is short so you must enjoy every minute of your life whenever you can because unlike on the video games, we only have one shot at this so don’t waste it. - Jhayson
