Today marks the end of 1 week without using my ecig/vape!!!
For almost 20 years I always had ‘something’ to do. When I was just sitting, I was smokin something, it was something to do when I was sittin there.
This weekend proved to be a tough one. Being at home is when it is the hardest for me not to vape. No, it isn’t because it is there and available, it is because I have time to sit and do ‘nothin’.
When your always used to doin ‘something’ it’s hard to do ‘nothing’
You know what I mean?
Then being at the auction, all day!! I was there from 8:45 A.M. and didn’t get home until 7P.M.
Trying tot find the right trailer.
Is it broke?
Are we goin to even be able to buy one within our budget?
Is this the right thing to do?
Buying the trailer wasn’t the most stressful part believe it or not. Ya I had my truck and I can tow just about anything with it.
With a Fifth wheel hitch
I have a ball hitch in the middle of my bed for a gooseneck style trailer. I need an adapter to go from the Fifth-wheel hitch to the Goose neck hitch. If I end up getting a trailer with a Fifth-wheel hitch. If I need one, where am I goin to score one of those? They are like $500 and it’s Sunday. Plus I don’t want to spend that!!
This is where I started kicking myself really bad!!
At the beginning of the auction this exact adapter I was looking for was on the auction block. I still know the lot number—68.
I thought if I could grad it for $100 it would be a good buy.
Really quickly the bidding too off and shot over $100

And it wasn’t sold to me. Some lady bought it knowing exactly what she was getting I dropped out because I wasn’t totally sure I was goin to need it. Plus it was goin to deduct from what we could spend on a trailer. So I kindly stepped aside and let these 2 people battle it out.
So low and behold I end up purchasing a trailer with a Fifth wheel style hitch.
Just perfect
So I begin searching for the lady that purchased the adapter. It’s about 90* F outside and I am goin all over the auction yard looking for this lady!!
The adapter is still sitting on the shelf calling my name!! Where did this lady disappear to?
In the mean time I am calling all trailer sales places looking for an adapter. Also calling anyone and everyone I know trying to find a way to get my trailer home.
No Luck
There is one last place that might have an adapter.
Oh and what do you know they have one
$500!!!
I knew I should have kept biddin on that adapter at the start of the auction.
I purchase the trailer at approx 1pm and made it over the the RV parts store just before they closed at 5pm. I’ve been calling people and looking for that lady ever since I purchased the trailer.

So I was thinking that adapter would just go on and tighten a few bolts with a crescent wrench and ‘vola’ it’s done.
Boy was I wrong again. I had to drill 4 holes into the existing plate on the Fifth-wheel hitch.
To the Rescue
Not me, My Dad, he lives about 15 minutes away and has the tools needed to get this thing done.
I’m glad he was home and not out fishing somewhere. That is all that guy does lately. Ever since he retired. 😜
To wrap this thing up, we got the adapter installed and I headed over to his place to air up the tires and check the lug nuts on the trailer. Which I am glad I did, all of them I got over 1/2 turn on each.
You can never be too safe.
I’m slowly but surely coming to grips with this whole no vaping/smacking thing. I’m sure there will always be moments when it is tough, but I made it through a weekend like this without vaping/smoking so I feel pretty good.
Oh ya and one more thing that happened
After I went and cleaned out the crapper tank on the trailer
No sooner did I stop in front of the house and the joyous smell of antifreeze comes drifting into the cab.
I lost my water pump on the truck and antifreeze is everywhere!!
Well looks like another project to add to the list.
If I can survive an evet filled weekend like this without vaping then I got this all the way.
