After a productive weekend at the house, and a little tiresome one at that. It was back to work bright and early.
Goin about my normal routine:
Make some coffee, kick back and check out what’s goin on with my peeps on Steemit.
Get a little breakfast and reload the coffee. Grab my keys from the drawer....
I always put them in the drawer!!
Not my dog or my keys
I immediately start retracing my steps in hopes to flash back and remember where I had placed them. I always put them in the drawer, always.
I guess not this time.
Let’s see I was under the house finishing the install of a Ethernet cable, maybe they fell out of my shorts pocket. Which is highly unlikely due to the deep pockets and having a pair of coveralls on.
I grab a head lamp, dust mask and throw on my coveralls and head into the crawl space. Retracing my crawling path, looking all around
Nothing!!
Most habits we try to break are bad habits, yet when we accidentally break a good habit it can leave us without keys to our car.
I spent over an hour this morning scrambling all over the house. They are here somewhere...
After the trip to Home Depot I didn’t go anywhere. So I obviously made it to the house with my keys?!?!?!
No keys
Late to work
And thinking about them stinking keys all day long!!
Did it ruin my day?
No
Just a little annoyance such as lost keys ain’t goin to ruin my day.
Frustrating?
Yes
Lesson learned?
Yes
The funny thing is I remember setting them down and telling myself,
“Now don’t forget you put these here, ok stupid!”
I knew it was a bad idea at the time and still did it.
You lost your keys
What’s the point?
We are all creatures of habit, some good and some bad. Who decides which ones are good or bad? Well just look at the fruit of that habit.
In this case I had a habit of always putting my keys in the same place. The good fruit that came from that habit is that I always knew where my keys were and I was always able to get into my car and drive somewhere. I was never late to work because I couldn’t find my keys.
Now, if I had a habit of continually placing my keys in all kinds of random places, what fruit would that bear? Would it be considered good or bad fruit?
I don’t know about you but scrambling around every morning in a panic doesn’t seem to be a good thing at all. I tell you what, I didn’t enjoy it, and don’t know how any one person could.
Take a step back and look at what is produced by your habits.
Poor health?
Sadness?
It’s time to break those habits!!
Create new ones. Replace a bad habit with a good one and watch how these seemingly small changes can have a huge effect on your daily life.
Learn a lesson from me, and always put your keys in the same place. Trust me it is a good habit.
Steem on
And
It never hurts
To have some
