26 teenage girls from age 14 to 18 are believed to be migrants from Nigeria unfortunately lost their lives yesterday.
Italian authorities and coroners are still investigating the cause of death and or if sexual abuse was in the play here. Lorena Ciccotti, Salerno's head of police, told CNN that aid workers arrived to a gritty scene and from the sound of it, it sounds like a scene straight out of a movie.
Some girls were hanging on to the almost sunken vessel as lifeless bodies floated all around. Over the weekend, more than 300 Nigerians tried to escape the poverty, violence and corruption in their own land.
In the article I read from CNN, 400 people were brought aboard the Spanish vessel Cantabria before disembarking at the Italian Port Town of Salerno.
