Today, I want to talk about Integrity and how this core value affects our Steemit Community
According to Merriam-Webster,
Integrity is the firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values. Hence, incorruptibility.
According to Wikipedia,
Integrity is the qualifications of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. It is generally a personal choice to hold oneself to consistent moral and ethical standards.
According to Charles Marshall,
Integrity is doing the right thing when you don’t have to—when no one else is looking or will ever know—when there will be no congratulations or recognition for having done so.
For me, in my own words,
Integrity is simply keeping your word, being honest and if you respond to your circumstances in an ethical and moral manner, and produce results consistent with what you say.
So, how are we going to apply this in our community?
Here's my take into this:
- If you consistently do the best that you can, with integrity, you will gain your desired outcome.
- Having one personality in Steemit and another for you "personal life" can be unnecessarily stressful. You will find that being your authentic self at all times - in other words, maintaining a state of wholeness or integrity will yield you the greatest success.
- Never judge or underestimate people by their physical appearance (I hate Racists) and blog contents. People who will be a part of your journey in being a Whale come in all weights, heights, shapes, sizes and colors.
- Never break your commitments. Breaking them will result in disappointments and frustrations in the community.
- Unethical behaviors or attitude will corrupt you and repels people.
- Never complain in Steemit. Instead, let's uplift one another. This will create a positive vibe in the community.
- Always check if you're still true to your intentions, stated intentions should always match your results.
- Strive for excellence. This will greatly increase your integrity.
- Always take the high road, even when the alternative is enticing.
- Never lose your sense of purpose. Burnout should just be a word and should never be a part of us.
At the end of the day, these are mere bullets to everyone who will just glance and scan through it.
But, if you take it seriously, YOU and the STEEMIT COMMUNITY will benefit from this.
Writing articles gets you to be part of the community. But taking the initiative to instill core values to everyone will make it significant.
Like the usual saying, You cannot give what you don't have.
So gain your foundation first by simultaneously building your core values to help the Steemit Community.
This may not be the same for everyone but I hope I'm able to help someone like me.
Just one person to help in this community is enough for me to continue writing. Thanks!
