If you believe that on May 1st in the streets, protesting, fighting with the police, breaking everything, etc. you are somehow celebrating the murder of some workers in Chicago that did not even occur on May 1st but on the 4th, think again.
That idea that came out of France, from the Second Socialist International Congress in 1889, for me, has nothing to do with that event in Chicago, that was just an excuse to create an international celebration on that date.
And what is really celebrated on May 1st?
On May 1, 1776 the Association of Perfectibilists better known as the Bavarian Illuminati was founded in Bavaria, Germany.
Well, I'm almost certain that Adam Weishaupt's idea of using that date was because that date is well known in pagan religions across Europe. In the northern hemisphere, May 1st is the date halfway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice.
