The mind is powerful, it can invent, create, and allow us to experience love and joy. The mind is so powerful that just reading the side effects when taking medicine is enough for the mind of many people to develop these side effects, and in controlled experiments involving thousands of people, about a quarter will develop negative side effects. Many have to withdraw from the trial because of the severity of the side effects, yet the medication was nothing more than glucose, a sugar tablet. It was their mind making them perceive they were ill. Our mind can even believe we are catching something like the common cold, seeing or hearing about someone ill can trigger similar symptoms with the power of thought. Another study using visualization, focusing and being in a gym and lifting weights, can increase muscle strength by up to half as much as actually doing it. As you can see the mind is very powerful and our mental attitude plays a large role in our health, just as it plays a large role in our happiness.
It is the mind, the thinking, that creates who we are and how we feel. This is why it is so important to learn how to control the thinking, because not only our joy and happiness comes from the mind, to a large extent so does our health because stress from over thinking leads to long term health problems.
When we over think things, we twist everything around, we create worry and make everything seem much worse than it actually is. Over thinking creates stress, and can potentially ruin many friendships and relationships by creating problems that do not exist. It makes our imagination run wild, removes our happiness, and spoils our future. The solution is to learn to stop the thinking when thoughts turn negative, and a good way to do this is by breathing. Take long deep breaths and concentrate on the breathing, and this will calm the mind returning us to the present moment. The more we do this the easier it will become. Exercise is another way to reduce stress, even just walking is good, and this will produce endorphins making us feel happier and more relaxed. So, instead of over thinking and worrying, lets learn to control the thinking and overflow our souls with happiness and loving kindness, and show our beautiful smile to the world. And when we smile we always look beautiful, so smile, because life really is beautiful :)
