There are a few weird laws around the world that will either make you laugh, or they’ll leave you without words.
Men who forget about their wives birthday are committing a crime, some people who have fish in an aquarium are getting a fine, and sex toys are forbidden in a state in which prostitution is legal. And these are just some of the world’s weirdest laws.
Think about a country that’s known especially for it’s art. Did you think of France, Italy? But what about Wyoming, USA?
In this state there is a law that’s says that every person who owns a building more expensive than 100.000 dollars has to invest at least 1% of his money in works of art.
In West Australia you can’t own more than 50 kilos of potatoes. It’s not a joke. Cops have the right to search your house or car for this.
Speaking of food, if you want to chew some gum after a meal in Singapore, you’ll be disappointed. Gum was forbidden there in 1992.
In Thailand you can drink a glass of wine or a cocktail only during lunch-time and during dinner.
In Scotland there is a law saying that if a stranger knocks on your door and asks you to use your bathroom, you have to let him in. But if you’re in Switzerland that wouldn’t be such a big problem, because you’re not allowed to flush the toilet after 10 p.m. It’s considered noise pollution.
What do you think about pigeons? They’re cute, right? Well, in San Francisco many people call them “sky rats”, and you’re not allowed to feed them. There’s even a website created especially to inform the people on why they shouldn’t feed pigeons.
As I was saying in the beginning, in Samoa you can’t forget your wife’s birthday, that’s considered a crime. In Rome you’re not allowed to keep fish in an aquarium, or else you’ll get a ticket. Switzerland also has a weird law regarding that.
They believe that fish are social creatures, so if you want to keep them in your house, you have to have at least two of them.
And the last one is coming from Reno, Nevada. Did you know that in this state, prostitution is legal? Well, guess what: ironically, sex toys are forbidden by law.
