Hi There 😊,
Today, it's all about swimming. I spent the last couple of days at the pool for a swim meet (yes, they do not refer to it as a competition, it is a "meet"). MSSWP is the state level for swimmers and just for any sport really. This is where, if they qualify, they will then represent the State at MSSM which will take place next month.
It is unfortunate that in Malaysia, most national schools don't have a swim team. This obviously is because there aren't many pools for easy access. You can however, sign up with a swim club to learn how to swim. Annd if your child is really serious about swimming there are schools with swim teams like SMK Amminuddin Baki as well as Victoria Institution.
That does not mean, kids from the other school cannot participate. All they need to do is alert the teachers at their school because all schools get the circular and they just need to know there is a swimmer in the school. Yes, that's how rare it is. In fact, I had to walk the teacher through what happens at a swim meet.
For the benefit of parents who are looking to pursue swimming as a sport for their child, there'll be a video just for that soon. In the meantime, here's a glimpse of what happens at a swim meet.
