Sometimes We feel like we are failures. We sometimes feel like we can't do anything better.
What we forget though, Is failure is not permanent.
Even if we fail at something very specific. We can often we can make adjustments; these adjustments can get us to where we need to be. Sometimes it takes more than one shot.
Try Again
Sometimes we are overwhelmed with all the decisions that we have to make. We over exaggerate them. Finally, make a decision, and realize it was the wrong one. The beauty of most decisions though, is that many of them can be backtracked.
If you chose blue backpack for example if you really hate that blue backpack you may be able to take it back to the store and get the red backpack instead. Sure this is a very simple example but it can be applied to many areas. If you do a crappy job at the soccer game, you can often do better on the next game. Or if you get kicked out of the team you can try to join the team next year after some practice.
With most things, we have second chances, and We can pursue the exact same thing. Usually, there is a way to try again.
Practice More
I like to see a "failure" as something you aren't. Until you fully give up on life.
You have failed, you are just learning. Sometimes it takes a while to learn. Most of the people who are good at something that we admire spent years of practice. It's very rare that we come across someone who's just automatically great and has that talent. And even then, just because they have talent doesn't mean they're set for life. They often still have to practice. If they stop practicing they lose their abilities. Just because you suck at something doesn't mean you're incapable of becoming good at it.
Growing up, I have always been bad at math. All of my math teachers told me I wouldn't be successful in life because of it. As a child, becoming a scientist was my main goal. But growing up I became very discouraged because I suck at math. I'll never forget that moment in high school. When my math teacher told me flat out, that I would never be successful in life. He told me that because I couldn't do basic math, I would never be able to do anything in my life. He then refused to help me with my math work. And left me there at my desk to try to figure it out on my own. This was in my algebra 2 class. This left me feeling devastated. I eventually changed classes, growing up I remember this, It's always been in the back of my mind. But as I started investing at 16 years old. I began to realize something; sometimes when I was planning my investment. I would pull out a sheet of paper. And start doing math. As a started a business, the same thing happened. Here I was this "failure" who was incapable of doing math. Doing math easily And efficiently. But as I've been getting older, I have been getting better at it. And I realize, that much of the math taught in high school is not necessary.
That I had enough knowledge in order to succeed in life the way I want to. Just because I was a failure when it came to math. Doesn't mean I always have to be a failure with math. This can be applied to everything; if you want to be good at something bad enough, you can have it. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Try New Method
I'm sure we've all heard this, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Oddly we all do this though, why? How hard is it to try something new?
It's a lot harder than we think. Often we get these habits. And they dictate every area of our lives. We don't even think of trying a new method. Instead, We complain about what's going wrong over and over again. Always be mindful of what you're doing. And try to come up with new ways of doing things. This will get more done. Sometimes these new methods can drastically change your life. Sometimes you're failing, because you're just not doing it right. Sometimes you need a tiny adjustment.
When I bought a motorcycle a couple of years ago, I had it shipped here from Michigan to Utah. I went to start out my new motorcycle, and it wouldn't start. I started to wonder if the seller had sold me a bad motorcycle. I changed the oil, I did a bunch of other basic work on it. And it still wouldn't start. Finally, I took it to a mechanic, and a small screw like thing at the bottom of the bike was twisted in the wrong position. He moved back to the proper position. And the bike started right up. I did the same things over and over again, trying to start it up over and over. Charging up the motorcycle battery. And doing it all over again. But the one little thing I didn't try, was the thing causing the problem. As soon as it was fixed, I had this beautiful motorcycle ready to ride.
Sometimes that's all it takes, is a small adjustment. Try new things! Just because you failed a dozen times, Doesn't make you a failure. Just learn what doesn't work, So you can figure out what does work.
