I decided that I'm going to post my ENTIRE BOOK "Be A cheapskate Now" here on Steemit!
This book has over 300 crazy tips to help you save money. I wrote this book last year, and it's been available on Amazon for a while.
A lot of people were angry when they read it Because some of the methods are tacky and somewhat impolite. But it's up to each on how far they are willing to go to save money.
I'm going to slowly post sections of it. Eventually getting around to the whole book.
Introduction
I grew up in a low-income household; it was rough. I did not have much and like many people I wanted to grow up and give myself the best. I worked very hard throughout high school, and I immediately started college afterward. I worked part time as a custodian while going to school; I received federal funding because my parents did not make much and could not afford to pay for my education. On my 19th birthday, in December, the lousy health insurance that my parents were providing me was removed. I no longer had health insurance, so I started to save and look into the health insurance that was available at the time. But on January 14, 2012, a day before I got my paycheck, I had to go to the emergency room with appendicitis. I had no insurance, and I instantly racked up $15,000 in debt. I was terrified; I was attending full-time school and working a part-time job. I had to rush out and get a full-time job on top of all of it. I struggled to pay my debt; after paying $3000 I was able to get it waived. However, it had a massive impact on what my life was. I lost my school funding because I was not able to keep my grades up. I also made the stupid mistake of taking out a student loan to use towards my hospital debt. This experience altered my life. I decided I was not going ever to get into this kind of trouble again. I found a job that provided me with health insurance and began cutting corners everywhere I could to save money; learned how to invest and understand finance. I taught myself all of this at a very young age and started to see a massive reward for my efforts. I could have almost everything that everyone else has, but for cheaper; I consume much less than the average person, without sacrifice, and I feel like I have so much more. I spend every day happy that I am financially independent, and I do not have a massive amount of debt to handle. I am now working just one part-time job while paying for my entire college education without any loans. Whether you are a student, a parent, or a single couple, these methods will make a difference in your life too.
