For me it's the whole situation with Danielle Bregoli; aka the “Cash me outside girl”.
Her mother took her onto US television programme Dr Phil because she was apparently at her wits end over Bregoli’s awful behaviour. A clip of the obstinate, rude and embarrassing Danielle telling an audience member to go outside and fight her went viral.
Suddenly, it appears that the mother is okay with Danielle’s behaviour because she is earning a lot of money from basically being the opposite of a decent, law-abiding citizen.
The thing is though, it's not Danielle or her behaviour that makes me give up on humanity, it's this:
She has such a large fan base all for being badly behaved, whilst genuinely good people who are working to change the world are largely unknown. Our society's obsession with celebrity is such that we have given such power and influence to someone with no discernible talent, and it will inevitably end poorly.
