Hello to everyone who was brave enough to choose this post to read ! (Maybe you chose to click on it. But are you really sure you clicked here by your own will ?)
Reality. Everybody is certain to understand reality. But almost everybody is missing the point that humans are subjective minds !
What does that means ?
In fact, everybody have two levels of consciousness.
The first is the emotionnal/irrationnal part of you, wich give you a personnal interpretation of the world around you. It is wonderful to be emotional beeings !
Do you know the quote "Love makes lovers blind" ? Emotions makes you blind. Not really blind, but it can influence your way of thinking.
The second is the rational part of you, wich lets you think deeply about a subject. It is that part that led humanity to this level of technology and knowledge.
This state of mind does not makes you a genius, or a god-gifted, or whatsoever. It's only an unbiased way of thinking.
But how emotions can influence your sight ?
There is a very long list of what psychologists call "cognitive biases".
Basically, a cognitive bias is a little flaw, that we can observe systematically in a particular set of conditions. They are like hardware flaws, and everyone is having them, even, me, you, a scientist, a high IQ person,... You got it, everybody have bias !
For example, in my early posts, I talked about astrology, and why it's not real. I quote myself :
"You have a great need for other people to like and admire you.
You have a tendency to be critical of yourself.
You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage.
While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them.
Disciplined and self-controlled outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure inside.
At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing.
You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations.
You pride yourself as an independent thinker and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof.
You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others.
At times you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, reserved.
Some of your aspirations tend to be pretty unrealistic.
Security is one of your major goals in life."

When you read this description, you can't escape from the feeling that it was written for you, even if you know this is applying to everybody.
This is a subjective bias, wich tells us that anyone who read a very vague description will agree that it is corresponding to himself.
This was an example, but there is a lot more.

And there's so much of them it is impossible to write only one article about it !
But if you are truly interested, I can share with you every week a new bias, to makeyou more aware of your thoughts and to help you to have a better sight about reality !
