I was fed up of watching the cryptos crash over the weekend so I thought I would do the sensible thing and take a break. I've been meaning to make a Mala necklace for meditation for quite a while. I had the beads, I had the thread, and some extra special pieces I wanted to add... Some charms from one of my sister's bracelets, she passed away 2 years ago.
I've never had a Mala before but I had been reading about them a lot and they are a great aid when you find your mind wandering during meditation. It gives you something to focus on. To use the beads you just repeat your mantra or positive affirmation while touching each bead. Not to mention how this also helps to repeat positive things for at least that length of time each day!
There are 108 beads, I wasn't quite sure why but I found a good explanation on https://gaia.com/lp/content/why-malas-have-108-beads/
The thread has to be knotted in between each bead, which is a meditation in itself while making it. I had to watch several youtube videos just to learn!
I used gemstone crystal beads from bracelets I had bought on sale recently:
Amethyst
Rose Quartz
Clear Quartz
White Jade for "Guru Bead"
Also an Angel Aura Quartz larger stone for hanging in the silver cage.
A couple more close ups.
I couldn't believe I had all these pieces laying around the place anyway!
It was so relaxing making it, I played some crystal bowl music I found on youtube at the same time to infuse it with good energy :)
The charms make it extra special to me as they belonged to my sister. There is an angel, a dragonfly, and a heart.
I loved making it so much I'm going to make some more. I love working with crystals and each has its own meaning. The ones I have used here are for love and spiritual connection. Its not perfect as its my first one but I'm really happy I made it. It has given me a great vibe for the week
