In my country, there's the saying that when magnolias start blooming spring is here for good! I do hope it is true as we've all had enough of cold weather and heavy coats.
One of the best parts of having a blog to think about is that there's always a good reason to go out and take pictures. The trees in this post I've been spying on them for weeks, waiting for the flowers to bloom. And since it's lovely outside I just took a walk in the neighborhood to get some pictures. I've been doing this for quite a while now, but it still feels a bit weird to stop in front of some random house and take pictures, but I guess it's a sign of our times, everything is recorded all the time. If there are no pictures of something it might not even exist.
By the way, did you know magnolias are an ancient species and have been around for some 20 million years? I wonder what the apes thought of them...
Having survived many geological events, like ice ages and continental drifts, they'll probably be around when the human species manages to destroy itself. Can you imagine a spring no humans would be around to enjoy?
Until then, let's make the most of this one!
All proceeds from this post will be used to buy some aspirin for my cold...
