Yesterday we (Daniela and I) went to a little beach close to Mazunte, just a 20 minutes walk from town.
I have to say that I've been in a lot of beaches but this was in some way special.
The first impression when we got there was just another beach, nice, big waves, not so many people, just a few houses.
Then we started walking towards the other end of the beach and we saw all of those small crabs running to their holes when we were to close. Even more, at the end of the beach, on the distance we were seeing a rock in the shape of a "sphinx", of course we knew we were walking all the way to there... :)
About half way we noticed a "glass" house with a cross on the roof and in pretty bad shape. Like abandoned. So "let's get closer and take some nice pictures" :)
Nothing as impressive as what we imagined from some distance but here is a photo so you can have a better idea.
But... Because we walked to get a closer photo we saw something else...
From further away was not possible to notice but when we were close enough we realized that all the plants were covered with spider web!!! we could find the spider it self but I took the best photo I could with my Iphone... I have to clarify that in most of the photos I took the web was invisible so The best one I have is from this kind of a spider web ball
You can see how beautiful all the drops from the ocean moisture are... Sadly I didn't had my good camera to get more closeup photos...
A few steps further another interesting finding... It looks like we were here in the wrong moment because sometime through the year a lot of turtles come here to lay their eggs.
Even more, every year a lot of whales visit this coast and people can see docens of them from the beach...
So, we kept walking and we found the spot to sit down and wait for the sun to come a little closer to sunset. The spot was a nice rock that I thought it looked like a sleeping dragon half covered in sand.
Daniela and I stayed there for more than an hour most of the time silent, just watching the waves, the colours in the skyes and some dogs running and playing around.
All the time with the sphinx in front of us. Just watching the ocean as she have being doing for ages.
All of this together makes it, for me, one of the nicest beaches i've been in. Of course the fact that Daniela was there with me is a big bonus :)
A little video so you can see the magic:
Interesting data:
I heard from some guy that there is an old mayan pyramid somewhere close to the sphinx in a position that, when solstice is here you can see from the pyramid the sunset and the moon through the little "window" on the sphinx...
