Hello guys, how ya doing
Today again is a beautiful day and I managed to stumble upon Fire salamander
Our forests are full of them so I wanted to share some fascinating facts about this specie and about salamanders in general
- Spotted salamander or in our case a sub specie known as Fire salamander is a salamander that spends most of the time in shadows making his home in mossy stumps and trees. His inhabitation is connected with water which means that you can found them near streams, lakes and ponds. This species is most common in central Europe forests and hill area. They are night animals but they can be spotted during rainy days.
- They have a long lifespan, being documented that one specimen lived for more than 50 years in a German natural history museum - Museum Koenig
- His skin is highly toxic almost all covered in alkaloid toxin samandarin. It causes strong muscle convulsions and hypertension combined with hyperventilation in all vertebrates- ofc only if you eat them
- But even if you touch them without gloves you are risking some strong skin reactions
Salamanders in general
- Salamanders are amphibians with lizard like appearance
- They have a incredible super power to regenerate their own lost limbs, as well as other damaged parts of their bodies and even parts of organs
*There is over 500 salamander species in the world- to be precise 655 - All salamanders are poisonous
- The most poisonous salamander is the Rough-Skinned Newt found in North America
*Salamanders usually live for 20 to 30 years -Fire salamander even to 50y
*Chinese giant salamander is the largest salamander in the world
Salamander regeneration ability in human medicine
"IT'S HARD TO FIND A BODY PART THEY CAN'T REGENERATE: THE LIMBS, THE TAIL, THE SPINAL CORD, THE EYE, AND IN SOME SPECIES, THE LENS, EVEN HALF OF THEIR BRAIN HAS BEEN SHOWN TO REGENERATE."
By: Kentucky researcher Randal Voss
Scientists are convinced once they crack a genome code and as they developing new genetic treatments that there is hope that someday humans may be able to regenerate missing limbs or reverse other damage, like salamanders do.
This could be a new world discovery
Being able to recover lost limb, spinal cord, organs, bone - the new world order, a new start
