Suddenly it's nearly a week since I last wrote anything here.
I've been trying out the notes -> log book -> diary process that I pointed to in my last post. It does seem to work as a process in itself, I have written more this week than I have done for a long time, but it has left my writing muscles a bit tired and not really up for tapping away on a keyboard and turning any of it into blog posts here.
Interesting. Maybe it will evolve. But till then here's some potted notes from the week.
I went to my fourth funeral so far this year, but the first with it's own hashtag. David Pearson was a stalwart of the government digital community in the UK and a kind and generous man. The service reflected that as well as the mix of civil service values with the kind of eccentricity you only really get on this island.
In the evening, afterwards, I went to a men's circle, we sat around a fire and talked. Not much more to say about this at the moment, let's see how it goes, it's a monthly thing.
It was ten years this week since Lehman Brothers went down. Doesn't time fly when the economy is in the toilet!?
I ran on Tuesday and Thursday. I can run for 30 minutes and I can run 5k but I'm not quite up to running 5k in 30 minutes yet! I'm enjoying it even though it feels like a bit of a plateau. Parkrun for the third time tomorrow.
At the end of my run on Tuesday, as I was untangling my earphone cable, I was stung on the arm by a wasp, which had somehow got up my sleeve. It was a shock. I was still in energised running mode, so I jumped and shouted loudly - it must have been quite amusing to the people on the other side of the river. So straight home to wash it and douse it in vinegar. It's stopped bothering me now, I was glad it didn't swell up like some mosquito bites I've had in the last couple of years.
I'm having a bit of fall-out with Facebook at the moment. I don't like the engagement where everyone's got an opinion about everything. I'm a bit curmudgeonly even about comments here, but you're all nice well-meaning people at least. i seem to know some rotters on FB, I think it's time to do some weeding.
It's darker and colder in the mornings. The equinox is next week. I'll be interested to see how it affects my running. I might have to practice some extra discipline to make sure I've run at a reasonable time. Or I might have to get used to starting work a bit later too.
Today I saw my osteopath to follow up from a few weeks ago. She says I've lost some weight. (Laure does too, but I think she's just trying to get on the right side of me). I don't have reliable scales, but my clothes are looser. She did some big clicks on my hips and gave me some more painful exercises - this is what we pay for!
There you go, that was my week. October is creeping up on us isn't it? And that means SteemFest will be right behind it. I need to do some organising of my schedule!
