I am the kind of person who is always working on improving myself and my skills, and if you are reading this post, I am sure that you share the same enthusiasm of improving yourself too.

I have been on steemit from a few months, and I have noticed that everyone is sweet, but the weird thing I realised, is that everyone is too pleasing in comparison to the other platforms on the internet.
I felt that something is missing here. And that something is "Criticism".
Yes, criticism, which is rarely seen here. But I can understand it. As many people don't take criticism easily, there is a fear of downvote. But avoiding it is not beneficial either, as criticism is a precious resource and accepting it can help you find out your weak areas, on which you need to work.
People do not like criticism because it hurt their egos. They have spent too much time working on something, so they don't consider listening about its flaws. Letting criticism hurt your ego will create fear for criticism inside you, and the result is that your future work will be just okay.
If someone has criticised you, it's only because you have some potential. Otherwise who would waste his time and efforts writing a comment about something he doesn't like, and suggesting how to improve it, who does that? So if anyone criticise your work, you should be happy because people are observing your work closely. Attention is the one thing every artist seek but very few gets.

Criticism highlights your weak areas.
Improving skills is easy, but finding out which one needs improvement is hard. Eventually, you can't see your faults, no one can. So someone else has to point it out. It then depends on you, whether you want to pay heed to them or not.
Knowing your weakness and working on it to improve it could change your life forever for good.
Criticism can give you the push to do something extraordinary.
It might have happened to you, or it will happen definitely, that criticism has put you into action. You were doing your best until someone asked you a simple question, "Is this your best?".
This simple question can boost your energy and confidence to a level that you can outdo yourself.
This is the question you need to ask yourself whenever you doubt your capabilities, if there is no one to criticise you.
The most crucial aspect of the creative people is criticism, as it gives them a chance to learn something new.

Yes, criticise by reinforcing their egos.
Criticism is valuable only if it is used in the right way.
The first thing people need to keep in mind is to criticise the act, not the people.
You want to become a naysayer or an aider depends upon you.
Either you can tell someone that it is not their cup of tea and they have to look for something else, or you can point out where they did well and where they have to.
If you want to help someone genuinely, you have to suggest them how they can improve and where they lack instead of pointing out their shortcomings only. You have to show people they have got calibre, and they can improve by working on right areas.
If you look at famous personalities, most of them were criticised, be it Oprah, Steeve Jobs, Bill Gates or anyone else.
But you can avoid criticism easily—by not doing anything.
As they say, "nobody kicks a dead dog".
Though, this isn't an option for anyone who wants to be successful in life.
