7.9.2018 Joe Rogan somehow got Elon Musk to show up on his podcast. Love or hate Joe, i think he might be getting to a point in the "new social media" (if you would call youtube that) where you could call him the best interviewer at this time.
What i love about his show is the way he can get the iconic reputable people of the world, guys that get interviewed in from of an audience of a couple hundred on TV talk shows, where everything is rehearsed and sterile.
Who ever comes on those types of shows never really opens up, theres always a wall of calculation what they will say.
Its basically fake. You aint learning anything, you aint hearing anything controversial most of the times, nor will you learn what the person being interviewed is really like.
Now you could say that people arent completely open even with Joe, but i can say without a shadow of a doubt that they are much more open, and much more relaxed during his podcast.
When a talk show gets a celebrity, or a scientist, or anyone of any renown you get a show. Its a show, its for entertainment, its to make the people laugh, talk about non offensive topics, non controversial stuff.
Its a throw away piece of programming most of the time.
Joe on the other hand..... Gets Elon Musk to smoke Marijuana on live broadcast. He gets him to talk about some deep subjects. He asks interesting questions, stuff that makes the moderates call Elon a crazy person.
Here you get an insight in the mind of the guy, understand a bit more closely who he is.
And sure, if im being honest he does come of as being weird. His facial expressions, the way he talks, etc..
But what you come to realize is that hes just a super smart guy, that takes very well known ideas and makes them happen due to having the resources to do so.
I mean Joe asked him a couple times: "So why do you do these things?".
And he would answer: "Well i thought it was a good idea and worth a shot.".
In the video itself they talk about everything being a simulation, about dangers of AI, about Elon digging a hole in his parking lot to dig tunnels underground that will solve the traffic problem in LA, about "neural link" (the most interesting topic touched upon) that could potentially solve the problems of our limited ability to communicate between people and form a symbiosis with the expansive knowledge of the internet/human race and have instant access to it simply by interfacing, etc.
He really drops some bombs and i suggest to anyone that considers themselves interested in the potential of the technologically driven evolution of the human race to go watch it.
