The situation in Venezuela is so critical that they are asking for help from Colombians to enable the dialysis room in Colombia.
I found out about this while taking the internship at the Central Hospital of San Cristóbal.
They are asking for help from Colombians for the reason that if there is an emergency with a dialysis patient, no patient can be transferred to the Central Hospital of San Cristóbal or the Social Security Hospital because the hemodialysis services have not worked for two years , the machines do not receive maintenance.
We have had around 500 patients who are being affected by the lack of dialysis and 70% of the machines are out of service because they do not have a filter and people are only receiving 6 hours a week, that does not meet 12 hours what should the patient reside? Apart from that in 1 month more than 12 sick people have died that went to these centers to be attended.
Without counting the patients who need a kidney transplant but for four years, this type of surgery is not done in Táchira with living donors and much less with deceased.
