An English father, Christopher, wanted someone well known to send his son a positive/ happy birthday message to thwart the negative messages from a bully. Little did he know that his one tweet would make Ollie Twitter famous.
Christopher tweeted,“Strange request. Anyone know anyone famous/well known who could send Ollie a positive/9th birthday message? The bully keeps saying to him that everything O has, he has bigger/better/more often. O excited for his birthday but keeps being told it won’t be as good as his own.”
“I would be so grateful and I appreciate it is an odd request. Just would love someone to tell him he does mean something,” he added.
Not long after Christopher tweeted his heartfelt request, the replies started pouring in. An illustrator from The Simpsons sent Ollie a personal message.
Sports teams, tv hosts, policemen, former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger all wished Ollie a Happy Birthday.
Some celebrities sent Ollie a personal video message such as, Good Morning Britain, Jake Humpherey, and Ben Shires of CBBC.
Even Gladiator actor Russell Crowe stepped up for Ollie with a kind tweet.
Monica Lewinsky, who is an outspoken advocate against bullying, wrote: “Happy birthday, ollie! we’re rooting for you to have a gr8 day… + rooting for you always. hang in there!”
