This is hot off the press news in our family - my dear sister-in-law just received her new to her car in New Mexico.
Betsy is Abi’s younger sister who is serving in New Mexico on a Navajo Reservation. She works as a school teacher for elementary, middle, and high school students - yes, she stays on her toes.
About 3 months ago, my mother-in-law organized a fundraiser to buy a car for Betsy. Her last car had broken down and needed fairly substantial repairs. Much to our delight, we were able to raise almost $6,000 in less than a month.
Since most of the family lives in Pennsylvania, a drive to New Mexico was required at some point. Betsy’s mechanic minded father surprised her by driving out a well tuned vehicle for her to enjoy.
This is just one example of how awesome my family by marriage is.
One of the things I told Abi when we were dating is that I had to get along with her family before I was content. When we marry our spouse, most of the time we are marrying their family. The only reason I say most of the time is because sometimes our spouse is the only one left. In Abi’s case, the immediate and extended families are so connected that it took me 5 years of dating to be sure.
While I say that with a jokesters smile, the point is that who we spend our time with matters. There are wonderful feats that we can accomplish as a team be they family or friends. However, a house divided cannot stand.
I pray you are building your team of friends and or family around you so that your life is filled with the very best of blessings.
