Two days ago, on June 21st, Montreal celebrated the Indigenous People Day. It was an event organized by Native Montreal in Arthur Therrien Park, in Verdun. They had plenty of fun games and activities for children, free hot dogs (halal and vegetarian as well), drinks and strawberries.
Since it was a beautiful summer day, you can imagine that there were plenty of people in the park. Some came specially for this event, others, just like us, happened to pass by and get hooked by the festivities.
What I loved the most were the artists that performed live on the stage. I did not remember all of their their names. The last band to perform was just amazing! The music, the lyrics and the way the singer presented the connection of the Atikamekw tribe to the native lands were very moving!

While most of the spectators were seated on the grass, enjoying the native beats, the children had a great deal of fun, running around, playing and even dancing. They were less shy than the adults to show off their dancing skills.
