Are you waking up every morning going to your job and hate it?
I hope it comes as no surprise, but you are not alone my friend, many people are in this situation.
I used to go to work every day and couldn't stand that place. I would arrive in the morning just on time to start, or if I would've got there earlier, I would simply not get into the building earlier than I had to. That place was not only demoralizing, but also bad for my health. Being seated in front of a computer eight hours a day, watched and questioned for even going to the bathroom really got to me. It actually was not the place itself, it was the management that was bringing that place down. No matter what, the people in the top management positions were never satisfied, and nothing short of disrespectful, to put it mildly.
I did have some jobs in the past that I enjoyed, in these jobs I was more physically active and a lot more interactive with the people I was working with. That human interaction makes a very big difference, I always liked going there in the morning, it was a different attitude in the work place.
The thing is, I went to school quite a bit, thinking that I was going to get a good career out of it, what a stupid mistake on my part!
As a matter of fact, last time I was in school, enrolled in a major program, it was quite a long time ago. I remember, it was around that time I've started to notice the world getting entangled in greed. Then shortly after, while still in school, I was just coming out of a class, when I saw a bunch of people blocking the hallway, all watching the TV in cafeteria, that was 9/11 happening. As soon as I saw the first tower collapsing I knew something was wrong, such building doesn't just collapse so easily, the dang plane didn't even hit the base, and that's exactly where the building collapsed from. Well anyway, looks like I got side tracked...
So, I was in school, going for programming, something that I was very curious of. Didn't had much experience with computers at all, but I had to make a decision between that and becoming a pilot, and the pilot school would've been a whole lot more expensive. Being a pilot was something I always dreamed of, but I said to myself "Hey gotta think money wise here". Well, by the time I finished programming in school, so was the IT job market, which ended with the tech bubble burst all over the place... well, so much for that.
I finished school with a loan to pay back and no job in sight, got interviews where I was meeting quite a few of my former classmates, but that was it... to make a long story short, it took me quite a bit of time to pay the money back. I was working with a computer but it was nothing about programming. In the IT industry things change fast, you have to "update" your skills all the time. I did take some other small courses, but I refused to get another loan for school or anything else for that matter without knowing that I'll have a job in the field afterwords, what a joke! It's all about spending money and being in debt.
Where am I going with this? Well what I am trying to convey is that you do not really need to go to school these days. I mean, yes you do need to have basic literacy and math skills, but don't spend money on college or university. A piece of paper is just that, it won't do you any good.
The money that you would spend on post high-school education can be far better invested.
Do what you really enjoy, if you do take a course (that you may need hands on, like a pilot) take something that you want to learn about, just for your own satisfaction.
When it comes to making money, forget about a job, doing what you enjoy is best, do it for the pleasure, and before you know it you will be so good, people would be willing to pay for what you are doing. If you have a dream never give up on it, like I did... and never stop dreaming, work on your dream, make it a plan! success will come. At the end of the day it comes down to doing the things you like.
