Welcome to Day 7 of On the Plus Side!
On the Plus Side is a series of short stories about real life positive or happy observations that I see every day. The purpose of these stories is to show the community that positive and happy events occur every day and to bring a smile to your face.
All SBD from this series will be donated to The Smith Family who support underprivileged children in their education. So upvote and resteem away!
A Simple Act of Generosity
Sometimes a positive or generous statement doesn't need to big a grand gesture to mean something significant.
We've spoken about random acts of kindness here before. But these acts are sometimes not even recognised as that, it's simply friends helping each other out. Many people often don't even think that a person is asking for help, they simply want to do something for a friend because they are in a position to help.
Some of the members of the gym that I own have become friends, and we stop and chat on a regular basis. The other day I mentioned, simply in passing, to one of my friends that my bike had fallen to pieces on me and I couldn't afford to buy a new one right now. I had some businesses expenses that were leaving me quite short on cash so had to reserve my funds to manage the shortage.
I didn't think anything of the comment, and certainly wasn't expecting anything to come of it, but 30 minutes later, my friend turned up at the gym with one of his spare road bikes. He didn't need the bike since he'd just bought himself a new one, and wasn't expecting it back any time soon. He just knew how much I enjoyed cycling and didn't want me to miss the Summer rides. What an incredibly generous thing to do.
Has anyone done anything so blindly generous for you? I'd love to hear your stories in the comments.
