Welcome to Day 8 of On the Plus Side!
On the Plus Side is a series of short stories about real life positive or happy observations that I see every day. The purpose of these stories is to show the community that positive and happy events occur every day and to bring a smile to your face.
All SBD from this series will be donated to The Smith Family who support underprivileged children in their education. So upvote and resteem away!
The Innocent Kindness of Kids
Children often have such a positive and innocent view of the world. It can be reshrrsing and even inspiring to see the world through their eyes.
Sometimes, when a child sees something wrong in the world they react with shock and question why it’s even possible for something like that to exist. My niece reacted like this when she encountered a homeless person for the first time. She didn’t understand how a person could be homeless and wanted to help these people find a home again.
My niece is 10, and has grown up in a lovely small town outside of Adelaide. So seeing homeless people is really quite unusual for her. Her reaction is completely understandable. Rather than just getting upset and leaving it at that though, she actually set up a fundraiser and asked her mum to share it with everyone she could. The funds raised will go to a charity to help homeless people in Adelaide.
It’s extremely heart warming to see someone so young getting involved in charity. She’s always been such a good kid though, so I’m not at all surprised to see her do this.
Have you had a similar experience? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
