Welcome to Day 8 of On the Plus Side!
On the Plus Side is a series of short stories about real life positive or happy observations that I see every day. The purpose of these stories is to show the community that positive and happy events occur every day and to bring a smile to your face.
All SBD from this series will be donated to The Smith Family who support underprivileged children in their education. So upvote and resteem away!
What's Your New Year's Resolution
Most people take the end of a year as a time to reflect on their achievements and failures, and then plan what they would like to achieve in the coming year.
Often our New Year Resolutions are about what we want to do for ourselves or our families. So I'd like to encourage you to think about including a resolution to do something for your community as well. This way we'll be doing something positive for others in addition to doing something for ourselves.
My community New Year's Resolution is to run a tree planting program for our local wetland's community involvement group. This tree planting program will see many hundreds of trees planted along an open grassed area adjacent to my local wetland. Once complete, the new plantation will attract a lot more birdlife to our local area.
My wife is on board with this idea as well and has committed to a New Year's Resolution to gain her boating license so that she can increase the amount of support she can provide to our volunteer emergency services team.
What do you plan to do for your community this year? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.

All funds are stored in my savings wallet until our donation target is reached. I've increased the donation target to $500 as of Jan 2 2018 in order to allow for a reasonable donation amount after transaction fees.
I’ve created the tag #plusside so if you want to read all positive and fun stories I write for this series simply check this tag. And don't forget, all SBD from these posts is donated to a fantastic Australian charity - The Smith Family - so don't be shy with your up votes! Every bit helps!
