Hey! Lets blame evolution
One human hangover from evolution is the conscious minds belief that everything is our fault. @Dan left Steemit because he didn't like us, our partner left us for another lover because we did something wrong, or someone cut us up at traffic lights because they didn't like us. None of these could be further from the truth sometimes.
We inherently link our self-worth to material things, and pretty much blame life circumstances for everything that is happening to us.
But the bottom dollar is: Just because your mind may perceive emotional pain and distress, it does not necessarily mean it's about you.
So your telling me it's not about me?
The subconscious mind has a trick that it plays on us all: it makes us think about 'us' all the time so we only ever see small bursts of pleasure for short periods of time before were pulled back down to earth with a thud!
When everything is good in your life you feel on top of the world, but when the honeymoon period fades we tend to feel crashing lows that pull us back down to earth again. Our self-esteem has indeed become a roller coaster within. With this we are robbed of all our joy.
So, how do we break this cycle?
First we need to remember that if something goes catastrophically wrong in your life it does not mean that you have failed as a person, it simply means that your human just like everyone else - and all humans fail from time to time.
When something tragic happens in our lives, we are absolutely convinced it was about ourselves and we end up becoming bitter and twisted. Choosing to live and carry on means that we must embrace these hardships as part of our philosophical musings, as they help build character within.
So next time you want to cry a river over leaving Steemit or your lover leaving you, be sure to know that deserving or not is NOT part of the equation. It can almost seem counter-intuitive - that's because it is - just like most of life.
Live well and Steem on!
