You may be thinking, what? Getting excited us not a typical emotional response to the challenges of aging. True, it isn't, but it is a healthy response. Don't just sit there. Do something.
If you begin to feel sorry for yourself, find others who are worse off and get excited about helping them. If you feel angry about the direction the local authorities are going, talk to them or write a letter.
Taking positive action is a wonderful way to keep emotionally well. Do it carefully, taking time to ask for God's direction and help as well as getting the counsel of others. But then do something. Our emotions too often determine how we spend our time. Let us not forget that how we spend our time can set the tone of our emotions.
