The image, from left to right, is my cousin, Bella, and myself enjoying a peaceful moment in the midst of a less-than-peaceful family reunion. It seems that children can always teach us about life, as long as we are willing to learn.
Things I Know:
Music is relative. Enjoying it isn't an intellectual process. I may not ever put into words how Run The Jewels, Public Enemy, Sublime, Rancid, Congo Natty, or Leonard Cohen make me feel, or be able to compile a list in order of their importance. Likewise, I may never like Future Young Jeezy, or Nikki Minaj, and that's alright.
Romantic relationships are not beauty contests. You got a 10? Are you sure? How much does appearance factor into your final judgement? Knowledge of Self? Are you a 10 yourself? Like attracts like.
Life is too short to be afraid of being different. The second you hold back a fresh idea for fear of not being understood, someone will beat you to it and reap the benefits. Of course not everyone will get it. They're not supposed to.
Religious myths are meant to be symbolic, not historical. Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Osiris, Buddha, Zoroaster, Hermes, Satan, Krishna, etc..... These are characters in stories, used to get a deeper understanding of the Self. It doesn't matter if they exist, or have ever existed. To dig too deep into these matters is to miss the point.
Politics < Human Rights. Various forms of Government have the capacity, and likelihood, of being corrupted. When you having something impedes on someone else not having, especially when it comes to basic needs, such as food, clothing, shelter, clean water, etc.... then we have a problem.
Life is fantastic AND devastating, all at once. It's a wild ride. Try to enjoy it. The valleys always lead to peaks, and vice versa. Friends appear as enemies, and enemies as friends. As people die babies are born. Thus is the cycle. Nothing you can do will ever change that. Best we can do is weather the storm.
