When we landed at Denver airport, we immediately made our way to the car rental center. We got ourselves a SUV for a few days and after a simple lunch, we were on our way to Vail.
It was a hot day and the sun shining tirelessly bright. The landscape is undulating and the peaks of the Rocky Mountains covered in snow. Traffic was fortunately light and we could spare some time at a factory outlet for a bit of shopping.
We drove through Eisenhower Tunnel which is the highest and longest mountain tunnel in the US. I heard that if the Hyperloop One is constructed, the distance from Denver to Vail would be significantly reduced.
We checked into an apartment hotel where we would be meeting with friends to celebrate the New Year. Fabulous time at Vail, enjoying the beauty of our surroundings, the kiddies playing in the snow and of course the skiing.
