Three children including 2 siblings were drowned in a pond at Kathalbari village in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur on Sunday noon (June 10).
The deceased were identified as Jini Akhter, 7, Sazzad, 5, children of Jamil Matubbar of the village and Emi Akhter, 6, daughter of Bashar Matubbar of the same village. They were students of local primary schools.
Quoting family members, Nurulyaganj Union Parishad Chairman Tarequl Islam told Banglanews that the children were playing near the pond and at some point one of them accidentally fell while two others tried to help. Later locals recovered their floating bodies to nearest hospital where duty doctor pronounced them dead.
