Bangladesh offers indirect assistance to India's OIC observer ...
Bangladesh has urged Muslim population like India to be associated with Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC). This is considered India as an indirect proposal to be an OIC observer. But Pakistan is opposing this proposal.
Foreign Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali at the inauguration of the OIC Foreign Ministers Meeting (CFM) in Dhaka on Saturday (May 6th) said that there are huge Muslims among the citizens of non-OIC countries. Muslims may be minority in these countries, but in the numbers they have exceeded the population of many OIC countries. To ensure that these huge Muslim populations are not deprived of OIC's good activities, it is necessary to create a bridge with these countries outside the organization. There is a need for reform and reconstruction of the OIC for this. He said that we must reconsider the OIC's work, method and process to meet the current age and future needs. Otherwise the organization will be at risk of becoming unnecessary.
According to the 2011 survey, the number of Muslims in India is 17.2 million. Now it is thought that it has exceeded 18 crores. There is no more Muslim than any other country in OIC than Indonesia and Pakistan. Currently, the OIC observer states include Russia, Thailand, Northern Cyprus, Central African Republic and Bosnia-Herzegovina
India could not be OIC observer due to Pakistan's opposition In a report of the Times of India, Indrani Bagchi wrote that calling for a country like India to join the OIC is not the first of its kind. But Pakistan is always in veto position. In the last decade, there has been a massive transformation of India with the Islamic world. It is said in the report that in 2006, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia then proposed to India to be an OIC observer. But its implementation was not implemented. Pakistan is using OIS as a platform to hit India on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
