In a previous post I described several modifications that we made to the backyard of our rental home to make it a kick-ass useable space.
Well it turns out I wasn't quite done as this past weekend I decided to transform another under utilized section of the yard into a garden that hopefully will begin producing some serious herbs and vegetables shortly.
The Transformation
The space started as a small section of rocks and dirt covered with a thin layer of concrete residue.
The first step was to dig out all of the rocks and concrete. I hired help for this portion of the project and come evening we were left with dirt that was hard as a rock.
I pulverized the dirt as best as I could with a pickaxe to prepare it for the plants.
The soil in place was not the best so I purchased some top soil to help give the plants a fighting chance. We planted several plants such as lemongrass, parsley, oregano, watercress, basil, the list goes on... I also added a small fence to protect the garden from agoutis and kids.
The end product turned out quite well...
HOPEFULLY IT PRODUCES!
