This is a true life story about what happened in Anambra state, Nigeria. My friend and her family have been battling with a lot of hardships and misfortunes. They are hardworking and nice people but ill-luck always ends whatever they do. Being good Christians, they prayed to God to help them, yet their problems persisted. After trying so hard to have a better living which never worked, they began to ask Questions.
In Igboland, when someone is faced with persistent problems, they meet the elders of the land to ask what could be the root cause of that problem. When my friend's family asked the elders what could be making them have a lot of problems, their response was a shocking revelation. They said
"your great-grandfathers sold an Ada(a daughter) and she placed a curse that it will never be well with all the daughters from that lineage".
They were told in details how their forefathers conspired to sell their own sister and how she cursed them. she told them that, as they were causing her so much pains, so shall all their daughters go through pains till death. Indeed, they committed an abomination and their children are paying dearly for their sin.
Of a truth, it has not been well with the daughters from that lineage. Some have their kids run mad, while some see their children die prematurely and mysteriously. They pass through a lot of problems from different angles. However, after finding out what caused their miseries, they started praying towards the right direction. They confessed the sin of their fathers, they pleaded with the spirit of the daughter that was sold to forgive them, as they ask for God's merciful intervention. Today their prayers have been answered. Things have dramatically turned around for their good. My friend and her family are now living more comfortable.
Lessons Learnt
I don't know about other places, but in Igboland where I come from, there is a general believe that whatever you do has a reward. We also believe that this reward doesn't end with you, it extends to the generation yet unborn.
In summary, we believe that everything you do is directly related to planting a seed, which will germinate, grow and yield fruits.
What are you planting today? Are you planting blessings? or are you planting curses? Posterity will judge that.
One of the smartest ways to change your life for good, is to not sow a curse.
