Earlier today, I ran to him anguish. I told him about my sharp argument with some people. I lamented how I feel people are ungrateful and don't really deserve you  making any sacrifice for them. They will enjoy hundreds of benefits from  you without showing gratitude, but the minute you make a single mistake, they will capitalize on it to criticize you and never remember when they benefited from you. 

He carefully listened as I lamented. Then he said,

"When you do good for people, do not ever expect them to appreciate or pay  you back for your kind acts. If you do so, you will become frustrated  with life. A lot of people are not loyal. Do not expect anything from  anybody. However, a time will come when we would leave this world, long after we have departed, our riches will mean nothing, only what we deed for loves reward will truly matter."

Again, for the second time, his words soothe my troubled heart. 

When it is all been said and done, all our treasures and wealth will mean nothing. Our beautiful skin and faces will decay. Our cherished shoes, cloth and cars will wear out. Only what we did for love's reward will stand the test of time. Only how we imparted on other lives will matter. 

If they don't appreciate you, never mind. Do not be discouraged. The right people will one day immortalize you for your works.
