Before the social media revolution, people used mobile phones to create their existence. Everyone was spending money through mobile phone tariff to connect people. Even they were so happy to spend money to talk to people over mobile phones. Then the text messaging become more crucial than to voice calls.
Previously we used to spend on pagers to send limited sized text messages. Remember those days when people were so happy to use pagers. I remember that my dad was so happy when he got his first pager.
Now even my grandma is not happy if he has to spend money to send text messages through the phones. She uses Facebook to send text messages to all her contacts. This time she is happy to pay for data connections.
It is very clear that Information technology revolution has created the need for having an online existence. Now governments of many countries require a Facebook account of all its citizens. People are also happy to create facebook or twitter accounts to connect to the world. Though there are also many disadvantages of using social media to collect information, it is always better to have something than nothing.
Can you and I think about one day without getting online to check our facebook or twitter notifications? I can’t think even a day. I hope you are also thinking the same. Why is that? Because of cognitive desires and our need to connect to everyone all over the world we need online existence.

We have seen this many times, and I think this is really great to know whether our closed ones are safe.
