This would be my third trip to the fishing grounds this year. I am new to the sport, but have been training all my life. When i used to live in Los Angeles the only fishing i did was from the top of the Santa Monica pier. But living in Vancouver, BC, Canada. My options have expanded and now my adventure opportunities reach out to me through my friends and their connections. This past weekend, I decided to leave my computer and go out and search for a great story to post on here.
My start wasn’t great, actually it was painful. Driving through hours to get to the ferry to cross over to the island in Victoria.
I found myself near the camp grounds where my friends were already camping. As soon as i got off the truck, i didn’t notice a huge nail sticking out through a piece of floor board wood. Of course it drove in like butter into my DC shoes and my foot. I didn’t scream, mostly because of shock that it happened to me. I was mostly disappointed because i knew that would effect my fishing trip.
Regardless, i was not going to let it dictate my mood for that next day. Being in the middle of no where. I didn’t have any stuff to clean my wound. I did think of a solution, the porta potty had a hand sanitizer and i used that to do the job along with a bandaid that i found in the car. I also search on my phone how many days before things get serious and i read that in 3 days or some i should get a tedious shot to further help my health.
The next morning, i didn’t even have time to drink a coffee. Packed a bag of chips and off we went on our adventure. Nothing happens quickly in fishing. After few hours of finding our spot to dick the boat and placing it in the water. We were almost there.
The sunrise was beautiful and totally worth all my efforts to get to that point.
Riding through the ocean for hours to get to that perfect spot from advices from other fisherman. Was not the funnest thing to do. But i’ll skip all those details and simply just share a video small video clip of some of our catch that day that i captured with the gopro (i’m filming) We got a halibut, 2 salmons and a shit load of rock fishes.
Oh and for all those looking to write about something great. Don’t !!!! just write about a special moment in your life and I honestly believe that will be good enough to share on here.
Cheers! (Paco Jr.)
