Of course it is nice to be back at home so I can check on our animals and open the mail, but there is another more rewarding experience…
Moving forward on our land is one of our biggest focuses right now, between all the other demands of life. We still have to prepare a spot for a shipping container, finish the driveway, and build our house, among other things that go along with all that.
Yesterday, one of the projects was leveling the creek base that we will be putting the shipping container on. Thankfully, we don’t have to do it alone. Doing certain things yourself can be much more cost effective than hiring someone, but if you have friends nearby who are also trying to do things themselves, then you can combine efforts!

In the past few years, and
also relocated their family from Wisconsin to Arkansas. Since we now have properties next to one another, and since we are both in the process of building our homesteads, we can work together!
On a lot of things, knows a lot more and has a lot more experience than I do. On other things,
does. Therefore, when we combine our efforts, not only do we have the combined strength of almost three normal men (2 is almost 3, right?) we can also bring different perspectives and understandings to the table.
LET'S WORK
Honestly, when the base was dumped on the land and I used the skid steer that owns to try to prepare a spot for the shipping container, I did a pretty good job. You can see
admiring my work in the photo above. However, I was just eyeballing it and guessing, so I did not exactly make it level.
In addition to having experience, also has a laser level and other tools. By using this equipment we can determine what level actually is.
Here you can see the next generation learning by experience. A couple young sons of and
came along too, as well as Monster Truck the Pepper, who is one of my

Soon, work was being done and progress was being made! As I mentioned earlier, it is very rewarding to be moving forward and working towards attaining your dream. It is also a huge blessing to not have to do it alone, and to be able to have friends help along the way.
It was nice to see how much more skilled was at using this equipment, but since it is his, I guess that makes sense. I can't wait to be more help to him too as he progresses. Eventually, by our combined effort, we will hopefully both be where we want to be in less time that if we had to do it alone.
As always, I'm
