Holiday season and the beaches are packed here in Cape Town, South Africa!
Today I want to talk about our free choices in life. Not free as far as payments are concerned, but rather that we are free to make any choices in life. Choices aimed at self improvement and also our financial standings. Choices about our next holiday destination and a variety of other choices.
Now with the approach of the new year 2020, many of us will make a list to present our choices for the year to ourselves. They call this list our new year resolutions and normally it is aimed at self improvement. We are all in different situations and the only thing that we all have in common is our ability to make free choices!
Some of us choose to spend our time out of season on deserted beaches!
Yet others choose the crowds and the revelry on the beaches!
Yet others choose early morning strolls with only the sea and the birds in sight!
Some of use choose watersports like kite surfing!
Again, others choose to go on a helicopter flip!
We can even choose on which airline we want to fly!
So, I trust that I have shown you just a smidgen of the choices that are available to us.
Like I said before, there is a myriad of choices that any of us can take at any time.
But now, here's a question?
What about those that have run out of choices?
An example here;
He uses his walker to carry his meager belongings.
The only choice that he has is to try and stay alive. There are thousands of them across the world and over here they normally sleep under bridges or near rivers. Almost every traffic light has one or two of them standing with boards pleading for help.
They have no choices, as there is no work and they survive from hand to mouth. Some of them even have families to feed.
And so I plead with you, in the drawing up of your new year resolutions, PLEASE think about setting something aside for the poor.
If you are too busy, simply support the charities in your neighborhood.
The least that we all can do is to help those that cannot help themselves, be it man, woman or child.
Think about it, as we can all make a change!
Note: Charities like Papillon find it very difficult to survive, especially in these times and their work is so essential in the communities. A great thank you to each of the special souls that support them.
