If you read my previous post about my pets, you probably know that I adopted 5 of 'em. One lazy cat and four adorable dogs.
Let me tell you what happened this morning...
It was a nice weather, not humid. I woke up at 9 and decided to clean my bike. It's been a while since I ridden my mountain bike. I got inspired by on how to take care of your bike, so this morning I decided to follow his post.
Mild water hose, a little wiping here and there and turning it upside down to see all the dirt, while listening to Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop The Feeling!"
I realized that my front tire was flat, so I brought it to the auto repair shop too add some air. They fixed it real good for less than a dollar. I have to buy my own portable bike pump. So I went online and bought one from Lazada (It's like Amazon of the Philippines). They said it will be shipped 1-2 weeks from today. Awww, that's a long time. No option to upgrade my shipping either. But it's alright, the auto shop is few feet away from me anyways.
After I got my bike fixed, I ride it like I'm riding it for the first time. I almost crashed lol! I gotta run some errands earlier so I went to the bank and withdrew some money. After using the ATM, it started raining. God dammit!
"Oh well, I'm sure it's just drizzle. It will go away soon"
It did not...
As a matter of fact, the wind blew stronger and stronger. Weird ass weather! I know right?! Global warming. Unbelievable!
I waited like forever. I don't want to ride my bike while it's pouring.
Waah... Waah... Waah... Waah...
"Where is that sound coming from?"
I looked at the corner, I didn't see any. I walked to the stairs of the building, there it is! A tiny pussy cat!
He is so tiny!!! He stopped crying when I came near him. Awwwww!
"Dont' you dare use puppy-dog eyes on me!"
He freakin' did!
"Okay let me pet your head"
Oh... He's shy!
At that moment, the rain started to subside. I feel like I wanna take him with me. But no, I already have 5 pets in the house. I stepped away and went near my bike.
Waah... Waah... Waah... Waah...
"Okay okay... You got me. I'm taking you home with me."
"But how? It's still drizzling and I don't have any basket on my mountain bike to place you?"
The security guards at the bank saw me petting the cat. One guard said he's been there since last night. Seems like somebody abandoned him there.
It broke my heart when he said that. At that point, I finally made up my mind. I'm gonna take him home with me. I asked the security guards if they have a box where I can put him coz it will be hard for me to ride my bike while holding him.
One guy went inside the bank and told me to wait. After few minutes later, he brought a soft box out. Everybody at the bank looks so happy for him. It's like, "yay! He found a mommy!"
I pedaled my bike while carrying the box with him inside it. He's peeking like he's in for a stroll.
I ride with one hand holding the handle and I almost fell off my bike.
"Okay this is not gonna work"
I tried with my other hand. Nope! It's either I have to walk my bike while I'm carrying him or figure something out.
I folded the box like I'm carrying a brown paper bag in my dominant hand while holding the handle bar. Whew! That was easy!
When I got home, my dogs started barking at us. The kitten started crying. My dogs were too aggressive that I have to lift the box above my head.
That's Hopper- a mini pinscher. They're staring at each other like Mcgregor and Mayweather
My older sister was working in her laptop when I got in, then I showed her the pussy cat. She looked happy! She took the kitten from me while I make him some food. We have to use a syringe to put the milk in his mouth. He drunk heavily.
I have no idea how many nights he's been on the streets, but with the way he looks, it's like he's been out there for 2 days.
I cleaned the dog crate I have when my dogs were puppies. My sister took out a small Teddy Bear so he has a toy. I texted my partner about it and asked me if I'm gonna keep it. I said yeah, then sent a picture of him. He said he's a cutie cat.
I fed him with a loaf of bread but he didn't eat it. He's probably got full with the milk I gave him. I told my other friend about him and she asked what name will I give him. I said I don't know yet because I'm not sure if he's a he or a she. My friend asked for a pic, I sent her this pic:
She laughed and said;
"Cats don't eat bread"
I laughed at myself for not Googling. So after learning that from a cat lover, I immediately look for left over fish and gave it to him. He gobbled it like crazy.
After he ate, I went out and continue running errands. When I came back, I decided to bring him to the vet and get a vaccine and other stuff he needs.
At the veterinary clinic...
It was raining hard again when we got there. I told the doctor about the kitten's situation and she said he's lucky he found a new home. A lot of stray cats need rescuing. I totally agreed with her.
I mean we can't control their population, unlike in other countries they have animal rescue services. We also have a few organizations here that cares for stray dogs and cats. But it's very disappointing because they are usually overcrowded and food is scarce.
Anyways, the veterinarian said my cat is not a "he". It's a "she". What will you name her? She gave me a pet record health book and asked me to fill out the first page. In the first line it says, "Pet's name". I paused for a little and wrote;
"Patches" nope. I wrote "Patch". Yup! It's perfect for her. Or I can call her "Patchi" when I'm feeling extra sweet. Patch because she has 3 colors. Black, orange, and white. It's like a patch in clothing, you know what I mean? Hehe!
Here's a video I took when the vet gave her medicine for deworming:
After a month I have to go back to her clinic so she can get a vaccine for her protection. I bought her some cat food and some dog food too while I was there.
The vet has a fat cat laying on her office chair. She introduce him to my pet but he's so snobbish. The vet's partner said he knows some tricks. He made him sit, turn and gave a high five.
I was thrilled! I will make Patchi a fat cat like him and will show her tricks.
The rain just won't stop... But I had to head home coz I have to feed my other jealous pets lol.
-The End-
I hope this story inspires you to rescue stray cats and dogs. I'm going to sleep tonight with a big smile on my face.
