I’ve been listening to one of my favorite songs, Make Me Like the Moon by Kenny Lattimore and Chante’ Moore. This is such a beautiful song inspired by chapter one in the book, It’s Not About Me by Max Lucado.
Some years ago the singers were at a church concert that I attended, and Chante’ opened the song by describing how Lucado’s book helped her to understand that we should be like the moon is to the sun, just a reflection. As a Christian, she explained that our job is to reflect God‘s Glory.
Her testimony was so powerful that I went out and bought the book. In the book, the author explains:
God does not exist to make a big deal out of us. We exist to make a big deal out of him. It’s not about you. It’s not about me. It’s about him. The moon models our role. What does the moon do? She generates no light.
Apart from the sun, the moon is nothing more than a pitch-black, pockmarked rock. But properly positioned, the moon beans... The moon reflects the greater light.
When I read this book in 2009 and even today as I listen once again to the beautiful lyrics of this song, Make Me Like the Moon, it is very spiritually uplifting and a goal that I desire to achieve everyday.
