It is a nomadic tribe that lives between Indonesia and Malaysia and lives on platforms above the sea. Their diet is based on what they fish underwater. But the main characteristic of the bajau is that they hold up to 13 minutes under water, and can descend up to 70 meters deep
Now, a study has found out why the bajau endure so much without breathing: they have a bigger spleen than normal. The research has been published by the journal Cell and it explains that they have a gene that regulates changes so that this organ is larger than in other human beings.
