I've been keeping things ticking over on the allotment, focussing mainly on tidying up over the last couple of weeks just doing an hour at a time: little and often!
Beds 1 and 2
I haven't done too much with this: I've got a lot of nasturtiums in which are great weed suppressants so I just dug over the top half and then used that to pile some hedge cuttings, again suppressing weeds!
Bed 2 in the background is the tidy one! Ready for planting SOMETHING!
Bed 3
Potatoes in the bottom half, harvested and and a few bits in the top half, have to take out my sweet potatoes soon I think - i.e. harvest!
Bed 4: SQUASH!
My best crop the year, butternut squash, I just hope they ripen soon!
Tidy bins
I also cut the hedge back and have a nice place for some new compost bins I will probably build over winter!
September on the Allotment Final Thoughts...
I haven't really harvested that much this year thanks to the late mid-April start, but I feel like I'm getting ahead of things for next year...
Time to start planning what I can plant over winter!
